Wedding Wednesday - The rings!!!

Our rings!
As soon as we got engage, my mind went right to rings! I love myself engagement ring, it's not big just like I wanted. I don't like diamonds, and I don't like that it sticks out. I watch kids and I want to have more and I don't want the ring to scratch them. Yes, it does happen.

Now my awesome Hubby, bought me a ring set. Therefore my wedding band matches my engagement ring! He so smart and sweet. We took them to Zern's (local flee market) and got them size. My ring are done. His wedding band was a little harder. We went to pick it out. He picked it out and fell in love with it!

In my opinion the rings at the most important thing, after you get engaged. You need them to get married. In your opinion what is the most important thing you need to get married?

To learn more about us check out Intro to the Wedding Information to learn how he proposed read Proposal. Next week see what he made for our wedding. I'm so lucky to have a guy that will help make stuff for our wedding!

Cooking - Rethinking What We Eat

I am reading a book on way Americans are always sick. It doesn't make sence why so many people are sick. Really think about it.

I start to garden to give my family a chance to eat organic food. The difference in a grocery store is you pay triple the cost for food if it is organic. That drives me crazy! I can not afford $1.50 -$2 for a cucumber. When we could eat two for a snack. I'm looking at $4 for a snack. I think what really got to me and made me truly believe having a garden is best. Was when I was at the grocery store and was hungry for an apple, I bought one it was $1.05. Ok this apple wasn't organic so it had chemical on it. I went and checked out. They had candy bars on sale 2 for $1. I was so mad. How can they be cheaper and so unhealthy? How is a mother that doesn't have much money not go for the cheaper snack? I mean you get too for the price of the apple and your kids want that more! Ugh

How are the cost of the grocery store effecting you and what you buy? What are your opinions on eating organic verse  nonorganic?

Wedding Wednesday - Proposal

On May 3, 2013 was the first time we had a Friday off together and didn't have any kids. (I was watching my nephew every Friday to help out my brother) I was teasing him on that day about getting married and getting on his knees and asking me. He was saying he was to old to get on his knees. (He is on 33 years old)

We decide to take a bike ride. He took me to a local park. We walked around. He talked about finding a place to sit down, but we couldn't find a spot. There were so many kids because of field trips.  We walked around the park and then headed home.  (I didn't know this was his plan A, I was caring the ring in my backpack)

Then we decide to go out to dinner. Hubby and I don't have many date nights. It was so nice to go out together. Dinner wasn't so exciting though. Our waitress wasn't very good, our food wasn't that good either. We enjoy our time together but it wasn't that romantic. (his plan B didn't go well)

Got home, he got on his knees and started to kiss me. Joking I say, "You can get on, your knees". He say! Do you want to?" I look at him and say, "I was teasing." He looks at me and says, "He wasn't" and puts the ring on my figure. I say, "YES".

It was a wonderful night he told me about him trying to ask a few times that day. Did we pick a night? Of course, come back next Wednesday and I will tell you the date we become Mr. And Mrs.

Here is the post that tells you about our background at

Gardening ~ Harvesting Garlic

Garlic pulled out of the ground
Yesterday was the 1st time, I harvest garlic! I was so excited. One more thing, I’m adding to my house for my family to eat organically and natural, which is my goal for my garden. I spend time researching how to harvest and store garlic (you can read it at Gardening- Helpful Video on Garlic  ), so I was ready to harvest  it.
it is bent over
I planted the soft neck garlic on April 15th, 2013. You can read about it at Gardening ~ Planting Garlic and there is helpful video and information about garlic there too. Throughout my research, I read that you can harvest the soft neck garlic when it bends over. I got to work.
Pulled up little bulb
I took a shovel and dug around the garlic area. I was very careful with the first two. Once I got a hang of it though, I was moving along. My garlic bulbs were little. I’m not sure if it was because I harvest early or that I planted in the spring. It normal gets planted in the fall. I did leave half in the ground and will try again in two weeks. I’m also hoping to be able to try to plant in the fall and see the difference.

Drying out
After harvesting I put them outside to start to dry out. Today, I have to bring them in and leave them on the counter, because rain is in the forecast until Thursday. I don’t want them to get wet. Have you planted garlic? If so did you plat in fall or spring? If you planted in spring did you see a difference in size?

First Time I walk outside and didn't die from heat

Good Morning. I set my coffee pot and it didn’t work. I have to figure out why today. I have been focus most of my time off to cleaning up the kitchen. It is not that the rest of my house doesn’t need it to. It is just the first place that should be clean. I love being home to clean up and have the time to organize it. Plus dinner is on the table when hubby gets home. I am not beat or stressed at night.

Today’s Goals
1.     Gardening -Weed the Sunflower area, the weeds have gone crazy!

2.    Gardening – Weed the herb garden

3.     Church - I love my faith and believe fully in it. But right now I’m breaking one of their many rules. I lived with Justin, and even though we are getting married. I hear a lot about, not being married. I fully understand why there are against it. I have been living this way for 6 years before I got involved in the church. At this point it is unconvertible to go. They talk about marriage so much to me. Therefore I made the decision to wait until we were married to go back and read at home. There for today I want to read scriptures today and set up routine, for studying.

4.    Freecycling~ While cleaning out the kitchen, I came across stuff I don’t need or want anymore.  I want to post them on freecycling.

5.    Cleaning~ I have been doing awesome in the kitchen. I have reorganized all but to cabinets. Today I want to organized them and clean out the refrigerator.
Off to Doggie Day Care

Yesterday’s Goals

1.     Take the Skipper to Doggie Day Care. Yes I know that sound crazy, but we leave for vacation in a week and he is going to be kenneled. I don’t want him to think we won’t be back for him. I also want him to trust the people there. ~ He had a great time.

2.    Gardening - Harvesting Garlic. I have planted the soft neck garlic and it is starting to fall over which I read means it is ready to be harvest! I’m hoping to post about this today!

Today’s Goals
1.     Take the Skipper to Doggie Day Care. Yes I know that sound crazy, but we leave for vacation in a week and he is going to be kenneled. I don’t want him to think we won’t be back for him. I also want him to trust the people there.

Wedding Wednesday - Intro to the Wedding Information

My hubby just asked me to marry him officially marry him. We have been together for 7 years last March.

I know you thinking that is a long time to be together and not be married. When hubby and I got together we were both coming from a bad place. I was going though a rough split from my daughters father and was very bad relationship. He came out of a horrible relationship too. His ex-wife left in on Christmas Eve while he was serving in Iraq. Therefore we were not looking at getting married right away. We both had many trust issues to work though.

After we fell in love we talked about getting married but we were raise a little one (4 year) full time. Her father joined the military, right after Justin moved in with Cass and I. We knew we loved each other, but we decide to wait off on the wedding. We wanted to provide my daughter with a save and stable home. Therefore when were were together after 3 years we decide to buy our first home. I was so excited just about to turn 25 buying my 1st home and with the man I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with.

Wedding has always been on our mind, but it wasn't anything to push too. We knew we are going to spend our life together. We want to get the home life settle down.

That a little about our past. Join me next week, and I will tell you about the way he proposed to me!

Gardening - Weeding

My yard

I know this might sound crazy, but I love to weed my gardens. Now I know you think they look crazy and you are right! With the rain, working, and the mosquitoes being so bad at night, I haven't been able to get into them.

My helper!

I have 12 garden boxes. Getting into them everyday is the only way to keep the up with the weeds. With the weather we are having in Pa it is either rain or to hot. That way I'm so behind.  I have to get on a role though my best friend is coming down in a month.

So much nice cleaned up
I spend 2 hours in two weeding my garden boxes. I took 20 minute break each hour because of the heat and drank two glass of water. They look so nice now!

This one was a push it was hot out
When do you get a chance to weed your garden? Do you go in in the morning or night?

Gardening Tip- Is it Worth Growing?

I have been asking this question a few times. If you have been reading my post though you will know I love trying to grow anything. When I came a crossed this picture at Mother Earth News. I thought I would share it you.

Thank you Mother Earth News for the photo
I think everything here is worth because of the vitamin in it. If I had to take one out it would kale, but because kale can be grown both spring and fall for harvesting. It's calories would be doubled.

What do you think?
