Cass's Peach Cobbler

My daughter also wanted to make dessert tonight too. Win-win she can make dessert and I can start to get to work on the 44 peaches I bought.  Therefore I let her at the peach cobbler; I pulled up the recipe on the computer and let her at it.

Here is Cass's Peach cobbler
Recipe for peach cobbler

  • First she cut the peaches
The oven wasn't on only clean work area, I was right next to her.

  • Then in a new bowl she add sugar
  • Next came the bisquick and she mix the two together
  • Then pinch the egg into the mixture

  • Then she dropped them into the cooking bowl.
  • Then she cooked it.

It tasted great. She will have a five star restaurant before she is 18.

Meanwhile, I got out the peach that got banged up in the ride home, and cut them in slices for jam in the future. I froze them. I also cut up a trays worth of peaches in chunks, and froze them. (They will be used for yogurt or smoothies in the future)

I put the rest in the frig. I'm hoping to be able to can peach in Friday!

Cass's Cheesy Chicken, Rice and Broccoli

Last night was my little ones turn to cook dinner. OK warning my daughter is 10. She has been cooking with me every day of her life! She a-little chef! She mastered eggs, (scrambled and boiled) grilled cheese, and Mac & cheese last year.

So we let her pick a meal and cook it. She is in charge. My hubby or I am in the kitchen over seeing while doing something else so she feels trusted.

Last night she make cheesy chicken rice and broccoli, Brussels sprouts,& bake beans. She did make all box meals but had to put them together and cook them.

This teaches her do much! It teaches her to read the recipe, to follow directions, to cook (life skill that is need), timing. But most of all it give her self-esteem. Putting a meal that she made on the table had her beaming with pride! She knew she made a wonderful meal for her family.

Bottom Dollar Deals for 6/4/12

I'm posting about the deals I find and use!! Now I do follow moneysavingmom.com and forthemammas.com they have many stores and great deals. I will link them up and highlight great deals. But I'm only going to post deals I get.
Today was Bottom Dollar, this is one of my favorite stores. The have some great deals. The kiddies and I were off to there after the library.
The deals I got were
1. Maruchan Ramen Noodle soup $.20each.
I don't like eating this but they are a quick meal for my hubby on his days off while I'm working.
2. Mac and cheese $.45 a box

I love homemade Mac and cheese but these are so much cheaper. So I normal bump it up by adding 2 cups of veggies.

3. Peaches $.67 a pound

I stocked up on these! I think all together there are 44 peaches. Yes I know thats a lot but I got so many to can.

Now I got many other thing I need milk eggs, bread, rolls, dinner's for my little one to make, and some other need house things.

All for under $50, therefore I'm happy and hubby is happy. Saving money is great for us. There is at least a week of meals in here for my family. But as you see in the weekly menu. I not going to plan this all for this week!
This sale ends Wednesday!
Monthly grocery bill $47.16.
My goal is to spend under $150 a month. (That's 83 breakfasts, 83 lunches, and 47 dinners. This number are different because of my nanning, hubby gets feed at work and child custody agreements changes everything)

Cass's Garden Box

I have many gardens all around the house! The reason being I love gardening. I love planting things and watching them grow, looking at them when they are in full bloom, and producing food and herbs for my family.

The garden saves me hundreds of dollars during the gardening seasons. My most favorite part of gardening is weeding! I know lots of people disagree, but I think of all the stressful things going on in my life and I just pull them out! It helps me a lot because there are many stressful things in my life I would love to pull out of my life but can't!

Come garden with me!! It will be fun. Let me know what you are planting and any ideas and suggestion are welcome.

Today I'm working in one of the garden boxes in the back yard! Cass’s box. This is the only box in on my property that isn't going to be used for food or medical propose. This box was planted 3 years ago so my daughter would have a place to pick flowers. I'm not even sure what I planted in here, therefore once the plants bloom I'll go to Low's and check what types they are. The only things I remember are daisy. I am planning to plant sunflowers and raspberry zinnias in the garden today, but as you can see I have not even weed this box yet this year! Here are the steps I'm going to take to plant the sunflowers.

Steps to planting Cass Garden

1. Weed the garden! (this will take some time but so needed)

See my angle. She is helping, but only for her garden though!!

2. Pick out the seeds I want to use
I need to add dirt to level out the garden boxes

3. Read the direction on the packet and follow them.

4. Dig the little hole.

5. Plant 2 seeds in each hole
Mark were the seeds are (I normal use a stick)
6. Then cover the seeds with dirt
7. Then water, but I didn't need to because it rained!! (I love the rain it, I don't have to water the plants!!)
Last I pray that the seeds grow

Now the box will be ready in a few weeks, my daughter will be picking flowers for her room! She loves it!!

What do you have growing? What at your favorite plants.
