Gardening Time - Ordering seeds

One of my favorite times of year is the time where I get to plan my garden and order seeds. I love seeds, because I love plants. This year we are going to work a lot on growing our plants from seeds. I’m hoping to grow enough plants to have them for my garden and be able to sell them cheap ($0.50-$1) Just to cover the cost of the seeds and stuff we need for the garden. I don’t want to make a profit. I just want to cover my cost. I mean you get 300 onion seeds, I won’t need 300, if I can sell then to make up the difference that would be amazing. If not, I will give them away.

I’m chancing the way we are eating and also need spring and fall crops. From Baker Creek, I ordered onions, spinach, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, luffa (I know I need that seed). I also ordered their Catalog, honestly that was the reason I went to their site. I love their catalog, it has so much awesome info in it. I can’t wait for the seeds to come in.

I also placed an order with Urban Farmer. This will be the 1st time I order through them. I got a coupon for 15% off for Cyber Monday. I need potato seeds for the year and asparagus, for the new asparagus garden. I will transfer asparagus roots we have but new roots will be nice too. I’m hoping that this company is better than the last one I used.

What seeds are you ordering for the year? Would you rather start from seeds or buy transplants? Check out my other 18-17 weeks before average date of last frost goals. Let me know what you are doing in the garden.

Gardening Goals ~ 18-17 Weeks Before Average Frost Date

The Week-by-Week Vegetable Gardener’s Handbook has flipped to the being again. This is one reasons I love this book so much. I can use it over and over again. Can you believe we are going to start seeds for 2021 Garden!!! I’m so excited. 2020 Gardening has harvested 151.28lbs of food! 😄 My goal was 100 lbs. We are still harvesting celery, rosemary, and sage out of the garden. My garden has become completely kid friendly, meaning nothing but water is going on it. My littles are little most are 3 and under, they grab food and eat it. I don’t want them to fear eating anything.

18-17 Weeks before average frost date

v  Clean up around the green house. Work on organizing it.

v  Place Seed orders- The magazines will be coming in soon, but I know there are something I want no matter what. I want to get them ordered.

v  Paint the roof of the Green house. It has been painted in a few years. I want it to last a long time. Painting it will help.

v  Hook up the heat to the green house.

v  Sow Herbs – Start Thyme and Parsley seeds.

v  Sow Vegetables – Start Onion and leeks.

v  Start to plan next year’s gardens. What do I want to grow?

I am so thankful this year for having the time to get back into my garden.  Know COVID-19 was a huge pain, but it did give me so much time for my garden and a chance to geek out about it. We have plans to extent it this year. Then it will be as big as I want it until we decide if we want to move or not. What are you doing in your garden?

Daily Goals - November 30, 2020

It’s been a busy week here and that is why I haven’t gotten on. Littler sick, thanksgiving party with the littles, college girl came home, thanksgiving, family drama. Therefore, I have been focused on other things.

I cooked Thanksgiving meal for my family we had 13 people expected, but only 11 came. It was perfect. How was your thanksgiving?

Today’s Goals

·         Work- I work from 6:30am-6pm today. We are learning about the letter Gg this week.

·         Workout – Last week because I was off a few days I didn’t get up and workout. Time to get back in it. I also started my new waist trainer today. Oh My Goodness. It is tight. Not can’t move tight, but you can tell my body is ready for this.

·         Dinner – Tonight is dinner with my parents at Red Lobster. Free meal, is a great idea.

·         Set up my goals for the week. I didn’t set up my goals. Which always makes me feel bad.

·         Cyber Monday – Put in my 2 orders. One at Trim Healthy Mama and the other Herbal Zine.

What are your goals for today? Let me know

November 21,20202

Its Saturday! I got to sleep in. It felt amazing to sleep in and not be rushed to get up. Now sitting and doing my 7 days of gratitude challenge the church sent out. They want social media to be flooded with thankfulness instead for hate. It makes sense this is a stressful time. If we see thing that people are thankful for, we start to think about what we are thankful for. We need love and caring to get though these times. Not hate, we never need hate. Yesterday I wrote about my Amazing loving husband. Today I wrote about my awesome mother. It feels amazing to start the day think about something you are truly thankful for and to tell the world. It makes the rest of my day be happy.  I will upload the post later today so you guys can know too what I thankful for. Feel free to join us! You don’t have to be Mormon, to be thankful. You just have to be you. Use hashtag #givethanks and let the world be full of love!

Today’s Goals

·         Clean – I really need to work on cleaning the house. Thanksgiving is coming soon, time to deep clean

·         Gardening time – Put plants in the greenhouse. I don’t want to lost my mosquito plants.

·         Shopping – Today hubby and I have a lot of shopping to do. Local areas are starting the shut down again. We don’t want to run out of stuff. We will stock up now, and the we will be good for a long time. Honestly, I think that is best.

Yesterday's Goals

·         Workout/Meditation – I got my workout in early this morning. I feel so much better Work- I work for 6:30-5:30ish.  Even the kids are seeming to get into the meditation. I stop halve way though just to see what was going on and the we are either sleeping or laying and listening. This is such an amazing skill to have in life. To be able to stop and clear your mind.

·         I am so excited for our letter F fun today. We are going to learn about farm animals! One of my friends are bring her farm animals over. We are going to get to pet baby goats, and piglets! I’m so excited for the kids. The animals came over! The kids loved it! It was so much fun! They played with them for about 2 hours.

·         Clean – I really need to work on cleaning the house. Thanksgiving is coming soon, time to deep clean. Didn’t get to this.

·         Gardening time – Put plants in the greenhouse. I don’t want to lost my mosquito plants. Hubby took a nap at naptime; family swears sleepy music puts them to sleep too. Then when he got up, he had Friday shop class with my nephew! My nephew looks so forward to this time with his uncle. He isn’t a daycare kid then and he gets to do older things as the kids’ nap. It’s a great way for them to bonded. Have strong loving men in a boy’s life is so good for them. Because something you don’t want to tell your parent stuff so having other people to trust is need. My family is so strong on this idea.

·         Friends – We are planning on having friends come over tonight. Though it might not happen. It is what is planned. Hubby end up canceling. The littles were crazy, I feel like two of them are getting sick and I have something go on. Littles that don’t feel good aren’t fun. So last night because Greys night. Honest that was so sad. Hubby and I now have to do an end of life plans. I want it to be written what happens to me and him so we know what to do.

I don’t have a lot of goals, shopping will be awhile because we have to go to Costco and the Restaurant store, and they are about 20 min in opposite directions from where we live. We also have to then come back and hit Lowes. That will be busy then cleaning will make it busier. What do you have planned for today?

·         Friends – We are planning on having friends come over tonight. Though it might not happen. It is what is planned.

Yesterday’s Goals

·         Work- I work from 6:30am-6pm. We are learning about the letter Ff this week. We have so much fun with Frogs. We will learn some songs, hop around and have a lot of fun. We had so much fun learning about frogs. We had fun sing the 5 little speckle frog song.

·         Gardening time – Put plants in the greenhouse. I don’t want to lost my mosquito plants. Life moved to fast for this. It is so hard to get outside without littles, when I gets dark early. I hope during naptime hubby can sit with the kids for a few so I can get it done today.

·         Yoga/Meditation – Not getting up took my workout time a way. But yoga and meditation will still help me. I got my meditation in but not yoga.

Again somedays I do better than others. I have 3-6 kids, I have to homeschool 2nd and preschool and have babies. I also vacuum and mop the house every morning. We have all hot meals though out the day. I have lesson plans, hugs and kiss to give out, outside fun. It is a lot. But I love every minute of it.

Daily Goals - November 18, 2020

Happy Wednesday! I feel a lot better than a I did yesterday. I went to bed early last night. I got up and got my workout in. It was so nice to get up and move. I also had some nettle this morning. Hopeful that boast my energy and mood. I did also pull the trigger and buy the new Trim and Healthy Mama cookbook. After think about what I can control and what I can’t. I can control the food we eat and the healthy we eat the healthy we will stay. Trim and Healthy Mama has worked for me to lose weight and feel better. It is based on not eating fats and carbs in the same meal but you can have both!! I think that is important, because I do not agree with staving yourself or not eating everything. I believe it was put on earth for a reason. This diet doesn’t like sugar, but what diet does. As an American, I know sugar is a big issue in America and that we have way too much of it. It is added to everything. I cook a lot at home and love to cook so this won’t be to hard for me. This lifestyle is also about adding superfoods to you meals every day. I know okra is amazing for your body. I have been adding that to our soups and stuff because of THM (Trim Healthy Mama). I love seeing a learning different ways to cook and get back to ones that I know work. We will fully start the program again in December. Right now, we are going to work though the menu hubby and I agree to, and food I bought. This also gives me time to get the stuff we need for new program in the house. There is stuff that makes this diet easier and healthier.  I like to have what I need ready.

Today’s Goals

·         Work- I work from 6:30am-6pm. We are learning about the letter Ff this week. We have so much fun with Dr. Suess ‘Red Fish Blue Fish One Fish Two Fish’. I have so many fun things planned to with this book.

·         Homestead – Taking care of our animals. Today Skipper has an appointment tonight after work. It will be a run. We want to see if we can brace his leg.

·         Workout- Today I started new workout program. I’m doing beachbody ‘Country Heat’. I love this workout. It is fun cardio. I also started the 21-day Mediations challenge on Facebook. And of course, my 10 min yoga. Having a healthy body will help us over come cold this season.

·         Gardening Time – We are going to take some time today and plant some seeds in the Auqatanks. I love haven’t fresh food growing all year long. This is way I can do it.

·         Reading – Read for 20 minutes.

Yesterday’s Goals

·         Work- I work from 6:30am-5:30pm. We are learning about the letter Ff this week. I have my babies today. We are going to play with Farm animals, sing farm songs and read a farm book. I love having baby time. I love being about to sit down and talk to them. They had so much fun with the animals.

·         Reading – Read for 20mins. I read a lot today. I did a lot of rereading the THM cookbooks and plans. This way I’m ready for December. One think you will learn following me is that I like to research everything I do.

·         Cooking – Going back over Trim and Healthy Mama books. December we are going back to that way of eating. Time to enjoy eating healthy meals. I love the lifestyle, because I feel better on it. I just let it go. Not anymore! We are starting in December so I can’t review the plans, and get what I need to start. Plus, we have our menu planned for November and I like to stick to that. I am so excited, that I ordered the new book when I did because they are now off the market. I got one of the last copies that are printed. Seem to be a think right now with what I want to learn or use goes off market right after we order. Like the garden book Hubby ordered me.

·         Clean- Clean the Craft Room. I started cleaning it. But I didn’t get there fully. I’m not crossing it off.

·         Workout- I didn’t get to my workout this morning. I am going to do 20 mins of yoga to make up for it. I didn’t do my yoga last night it. I was sleepy. I just when to bed early.

·         Crafting life – Design a Glass wood stove cover for a friend. I did work on this, and for about an hour. I couldn’t find a design I truly liked with the stuff asked for. I final settled on one, but they didn’t like it. Now we have a few new ideas I will try at naptime.

There is so much going on, here as always. I love it that way! What are your goals?

Daily Goals - November 17. 2020

Happy Tuesday. I’m so behind on everything. I didn’t want to awake up this morning. Depression is trying to sink its teeth in me. When I get depressed all I want to do is sleep. I like to shut the world out. Now I know this and this isn’t healthy. Therefore, I’m trying to be more open about it. It is very hard for me; I hate being vulnerable. What is setting me off? Well the closure of our cities again. Yes, we knew we would have issues come winter. It just sucks. No, I don’t want people to die, but I don’t want them to die from losing everything either. Philadelphia just start the major close down, they are only 45 minutes away from us and asking surrounding area to follow. They have closed; high schools and colleges, gyms, indoor dining (which will be a lot of restaurants because how are you going to eat outside in the snow and cold) libraries, museums, no weddings or funerals, 10% capacity in stores, and if you can work from home you must. They are asking churches no to hold live services. I want to cry for all those people. I can’t imagine being a gym owner and laying off the people 6 weeks until Christmas!!!! Knowing if the get through the unemployment crap and get unemployment, they will only get 60% of their normal income!! No extra money to make it to what they were making, no help unless they go to food banks. This is no fault of the business owners. It’s just horrible. I know our area will be following soon. I know I won’t close this time, because they won’t close daycares, but most big daycares around me will be laying teachers because kids won’t be back, their parents aren’t working. I don’t know any daycare that is around me that is back fully with kids. This might cut my income down even more. I know I might keep 2 kids, though the shutdown. But that is such a pay hit. I’m right now making 40% what was projected for this year, and 50% less then last year. How are business like this suppose to survive? What do I do? Do I give up everything I have worked hard for, love, and believe in to do something else? It is so much. I do know we will be okay we have set ourselves up to be debt free. We can live off hubby salary, but I hate it. I like having my own money. Not that he wouldn’t buy, or get me anything I want, or wants me to get a new job (or second job). I am a spoiled wife. It I don’t like not helping with the bills. This is what is going on in my head. I know I can’t control any of this. I have to let it play out. That is the hardest part.

Loving their Fodder

Today’s Goals

·         Work- I work from 6:30am-5:30pm. We are learning about the letter Ff this week. I have my babies today. We are going to play with Farm animals, sing farm songs and read a farm book.

·         Reading – Read for 20mins.

·         Clean- Clean the Craft Room.

·         Workout- I didn’t get to my workout this morning. I am going to do 20 mins of yoga to make up for it.

·         Crafting life – Design a Glass wood stove cover for a friend.

Happy Chickens

Yesterday’s Goals

·         Work- I work from 6:30am-5:30pm. We are learning about the letter Ff this week. I’m so excited for all the fun we will have. We had so much fun yesterday introducing the letter Ff.

·         Reading – Read for 20mins. I didn’t get to this Mario Kart with Hubby was so much more fun.

·         Homestead- Feed the chicken their 1st ever fodder. I’m so excited to be able to feed it to them. They loved this! It was so nice to be giving them healthy food!

·         Clean- Clean the kitchen. We ending up taking morning naps. This meant after noon naps were so thrown off. Plus then my brother called and want to talk. Clean will always need to happen, family is more important.

·         Workout- I didn’t get to my workout this morning. I am going to do 20 mins of yoga to make up for it. Yoga was done. I tried a new person YouTube, want fond of it. It was very slow pace and she was quiet.

·         Crafting life – Design a Glass wood stove cover for a friend. We kind of started it. I have a little more work that has to be done on it.

There is so much going on. But I am so excited my little one will be home in a week! I can’t wait to see her! What are your goals, how are you don’t with the shut down?

Monday, November 16, 2020

Happy Monday, It is a work day here. 3 littles are with me today.

Today’s Goals

  •          Returns – Hubby and I have to go to Lowes and Harbor Freight to return stuff. I got this done. Returned stuff and then bought stuff for the rabbit/chicken coop. I want to fix the roof, and then clean it up. It is a hot mess.

I’m so sleepy today. This weekend has been a stressful weekend. We found out that my unemployment assistance will be over. Therefore, I need to come up with a way to replace it. I am so pissed because it isn’t my fault our Governor has put all these restrictions on the state so my parents all can’t be back to work. I think I’m going to sign up for Instacart and be one of their drivers. I’m starting that process now so I don’t loss or income. It isn’t what I want to do, because I’m already working 55-70 hours a week with the daycare. But I know I need my money. We all do what we need to. I do find it so unfair, but that is life right. It is unfair and stressful, but if I want my dream farm I need to get it done!

On the way to ER Vet. Poor Skip is so sad

Happy Saturday Night!

I know I have been so busy, but that is my life. We had an emergency on Thursday night. My poor dog, rolled over on the floor and blow out his knee. His ALC is broken. We token him to the emergency room. The gave us medicine and sent us to our vet.  Now we have to go back to the place we took him in the 1st place to see a specialist. This has so hard for us because he is our baby. There for the last few days where all about him. It was so hard on my husband because it’d his dog. We do have an appointment Wednesday at 6:40pm to see what they think.

After we got Skipper settles, I head out to a friend’s house. It was amazing to see people I haven’t seen since COVID-19. To hug friends, I have missed. Yes, I know some won’t be happen with that, but we are okay it and that is what matter. We did sit away from each other. It was so nice to get out of the house talk with 4 other women and just relax.

Off to see the vet, the meds are help so we are smiling!

Today was a going day too. I meet with the friend; I was having issues. We talked for over 4 hours. We talking about our feeling and work though them.  I love when two friends can talk though issues and fix them.

After that hubby and I moved the camper!! I’m so excited, Cass will be home in 10 days. I’m so happy. After that I working in the garden. I cut out my tomato plants and okra. Then added hay to the beds. We head out to get more hay. After that we stop at Target, and got new games for our Switch and I found a reusable Ziplock bag. It makes me so happy because I can us it for my scarps so I have it for my broth. I love the idea of not wasting bags.

Lets hope the next  week goes better.

Daily Goals - November 12, 2020

Costco's took my money 😂

Yesterday was a busy day and it was all over the place. I didn’t get on. Sorry. I want to take a moment to taking all men and women that have severed or are serving our Amazing Brave USA Military. Thank you for taking risk of your life to protect my life and freedom! I am so thankful for you!!! I hope you had an Amazing Veteran’s day.

Today’s Goals

·         Work – I work today from 7am-6pm today. I have homeschooler and preschoolers today.

·         Post – I did think this would have to be a goal, but I see that I can get busy and not get to in.

·         House- I need to clean the mudroom. I love having a mudroom. It truly helps keep the house cleaner.

·         Gardening time- I want to plant some more seeds in the Aquaponic tank.

·         Kids Korner – We are going to have fun with the sensory table on this rainy day.

Yesterday

Yesterday was a busy day. I was supposed to have off. It was Veteran’s Day and I take the day to celebrate with my father and husband. It is something I enjoy doing and I’m so happy to have amazing men in my life. The day was planned that I would run to a friend’s house early, then be home when hubby wakes up. After that we were supposed to meet my dad at Friendly’s for lunch, and go hang out with friends and play with their horse. (Hubby and the Horse Lady were talking about how this one horse would be amazing for PTSD. That hubby still suffers from.) Then dinner with my parents. The day got crazy, and if you know me, I hate being off schedule. 9:30pm on Tuesday, I get the call from my dad that he forgot that he had a dentist appointment and someone need to take my nephew, because COvid-19 won’t let my nephew with hm and you can’t leave kids in the car. Which meant, I need to take him and my brother didn’t want to ask because he knew I was off. That make pushing back my plans with my friends, and we add a stop at Costco’s. Then I got a text from a friend stating pretty much she mad at me, because oh I don’t know. That annoyed me, because she wants to talk but don’t want to do it then. What in the World, if you are mad tell me? If you don’t want to then don’t say anything but I do not want to schedule a time to sit down and talk if you won’t even tell me way. I’m not for playing victim. I’m sorry, but it was a text to upset me and this friend has been a horrible friend to me in the last few months, and she knew it would upset me. She plays me because I’m a people pleasure. I know she is upset with me because I’m done being nice, and letting her take advantage of me. But this blog isn’t about taking down on people. Just saying to text someone saying we need to talk, but I haven’t had time right time to talk to you about it and I have to gather my thoughts on it, is not okay!!! Not to even say what you want to talk about. I’m sorry, I don’t have time for that drama. Think about what you need to and why everything is the way it is. Then ask someone to talk is okay, but to say it like that. I just being dramatic and I don’t have time in my life. ~~~ Anyway, sorry about the rant, I’m still annoyed can’t you tell. I didn’t sleep well on Tuesday night. I got up at 4:30 and didn’t fall back to sleep until 6am. Then text from the friend’s who’s house I was supposed to go to saying her kid had a temperature of 100.5 well there went that plan. I had to home school in the morning. Then we went to Costco’s the took all my money. LOL and came home. Hubby and I played on the switch for an hour, then lunch with my Dad and nephew. Then came home hubby took a nap, and I wrote a post (about the eggs, but had issues adding videos. I didn’t get to post it). Then we left to see the horse. That was so much fun. After that meet my parents for dinner. Then we went to bed, I fell asleep and hubby wait up to try to order the PS5 but that didn’t happen, because they never went on sale. To say yesterday was all over is an understatement.

Kids Kroner - Egg Experiment

The Rubber Egg Experiment is such a cool experiment to do with children. We had so much fun with it. It is super mess though. That’s okay we are kids and we are meant to be dirty. Nothing a change of clothes and washing our hands can’t fix.

What you need

1.       Vinegar

2.       Egg

How to do it

1.       Put a little vinegar in clear cups

2.       Add the egg

3.        Fill the cup up until about ½ in above the egg.

Why does it work

1.       Vinegar is an acid. The acid dissolves the calcium carbonate (which is what makes up the egg shell). You are left with egg membrane, which is rubbery

2.       It gets bigger because the egg membrane absorbs some of the vinegar.

Our Eggs on Day 1

How we conducted the experiment

·         Day 1, I pulled out and egg and vinegar. I asked the kids if they believed my Hypotonus was right that if I put the egg in Vinegar for 3 days could we bounce it like a ball. My School age look me like I was crazy. My preschools followed his lead all but one. Saying it wouldn’t happen. I put a little vinegar in and the egg. (I did this so; I wouldn’t break the egg when we put it cup.) Then we topped it with vinegar. We set it one the table.

·         Day 2 we looked at the eggs we saw the bubbles around the egg. We talked about it being a reaction to the vinegar eating the calcium or the egg shell. I pulled out an egg. We explored it.  It was slimy and a little see though the brown was coming off.

Comparing the eggs

·         Day 3, we talked about the eggs. We compared the egg in the experiment to a regular egg. I ask the kids questions; What is an egg? What happens if the egg is fertile? The we talked about the eggs membrane and how that keeps the baby chick safe. Then we pulled out the egg. (we make 5 of them so each kid could try it) I bounced mine 1st. I said let’s see how high I could go before the egg broke. We talked about how hard it had to be for a baby chick to get out of. Then my egg popped. I laughed and cleaned it up. (I want my egg to break because I want the to see it was okay if it broke, and wasn’t a big deal.) They got to play with their eggs. 2 didn’t want it and 2 had a blast.

Exploring the eggs

Have you tried this experiment? We love it.

Kids Korner - Veteran's Day Lesson Plan

Veteran’s Day Lesson Plan

Veteran’s Day is such an amazing holiday to celebrate with my littles. It helps them learning about the Amazing Men and Women that are/were in the military. We don’t go into too much detail about what the military does, they are little. We just say the protect us. I leave it like that, they don’t need to worry about the outside stress of the world. They just need to know that they are safe. We talk about the military members in the families of kids we have. We talk about the 5 branches of the military, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Forces, and Marines. We talk about their vehicles and uniforms. We talk about how thankful we are for them.
