Gardening tip - Knowng the differance in sqaush male and female flowers

Thank you for the photo Easy Container Combos: Vegetables & Flowers (Container Gardening Series)

This photo was one of the best I have seen that helps you know the difference in the flowers. By knowing this information you can help pollinate your garden if you are not getting many squashes. You would take a Qtip and gently place it in the male flower and then put it in the female.

Personal never had to do this but have read about in it, in over 30% of the gardening books I have read. Have you every had to do this? Let me know

I have see this photo everywhere thank you to the person that make it

I would Recommend you to print this out and put it were you are have your seeds stored. Some of these seeds I would never have thought about soaking. Like corn, I have never soaked, but this year I will give it a try.
What do you normal soak before you plan them? Have you started any seeds in the house yet?

Gardening Tips - Use a Notebook to Plan Garden

My gardening Journal

Another reason is to know when things are planted. Like in March, I need to plant 86 pea plants indoors. Then in April, I need to plant 86 more outside. Having it written down, helps me keep track of what I need to plant and when.
Having a notebook also will let me know, when to harvest my plants. Like my peppers, if I start them on March 14th, I should be able to harvest them around May 20th to June 9th. This is great to information to know. I can start to plan my menu around the food that is coming out of the garden.
I use a binder, so I have an area to write what I need to buy. I normal call this my dream list. I have a huge one. It is great though, because it shows me what I want to work for. Having a list will help you know what you want to buy, therefore you don't go in a store and come out with 10 different seeds that aren't on your list and you don't have anywhere to plant them. ( I have done this several times.)
The last reason, I'm using a binder is that it will help me save my seeds. This year’s goal is to start to save seeds. There will be a spot in the binder for all the information on the seeds, I plant. That will tells what they are and their detail of each seed. This spot will grow with information on how the plant grows for me, when to start it. This will be important because I grow Survival Essential ~ Squash, Dark Green Zucchini for 10 years by harvesting my heirloom seeds and replanting them. I will most likely forget where I got it from. Causing me to have to replace the seeds, because they spoiled on year, I can look it up. I won't be without the Zucchini plant I love.
There are many ways to keep Journals, I use paper and pen, then put it on my Gardening App. I also use this blog as my journal. This way I have many forms of a journal to help me grow my garden every year!
How do you keep track of your garden?

Gardening tips- Herbs your cabinet that could help you when your sick

This chart has so much information, thank you to the person that made it

I love researching all these herb and look at what benefits they have. I love knowing if I'm adding these to may family meals, that are helping them. (I am not saying that if you have issues don't see your doctor, because the do have ways to help you and I'm not a doctor) By looking at this chart can see the area my family has issues and can add more herbs to help with that problem, when I'm cooking. Like if we are sick, I can make chicken soup for the family and add some sage and rosemary, which pair great with chicken, to help use get better faster. Knowing this information you can help your family too!

Gardening tip- What Plant Will Help with a Cut

Thank you for the information

I have been looking for more plants to grow that have medical benefits. This year we are planning to add a herb gardening to our house. I would rather depend on nature that was giving to us than companies that want to make money. (I am not saying that if you have issues don't see your doctor, because the do have ways to help you and I'm not a doctor) This Picture gives 3 ways to cover you cut that will help it heal too. After reading this and earn more about rose. I have decided I want 2 rose bushes next year in the garden.

Do you have an herb garden? If so what do you have growing in it?

Gardening Tip ~ How to make the most out of Rain, by using a Rain Barrel system

Thanks Chrissy for the photo of your project!

I just got done reading How to Make a Rain Barrel from Chrissy Blog! It is an awesome step by step project and very well written. The only think I would change is to add some oil (cooking kind) to it as help stop mosquitoes from breeding, just in case they get though the netting. Thank you The Homestead Survival for suggesting this article!

Gardening tips- Companion planting in the garden with peas

Fresh picked peas
Peas are an awesome veggie. They are easy to grow and can have for a spring and fall harvest. Peas grow up, They make a great companion for plants that don't need a lot of sunlight and are root plants. I did a lot research on what grows well with peas.

Fresh Baby Carrots
Three plants that pair well with peas are carrots, turnips, and radishes. These plants can be planted in between the keys trellises and they will grow underground while the peas grow up the trellis.

My corn
Corn is another plant that pairs well with peas. Corn can act like a trellis for the peas and the peas help the corn become sturdy and not get knocked over by the wind.

Gardening tip- Getting rid of Ants

What I need to use to get rid of the ants
I have been researching how to get rid of ants. They are all in my garden, and not just a few I have three different species in each garden box. I'm so annoyed with them because they are protecting the aphids that are killing my plants!
Sprinkle cininmon
One thing I read was cinnamon is a smell ants don't like. Ok I though this could be crazy information. I tried it, and they ran. It was the best thing I ever saw in my garden (don't forget I have been pray the would go away for 3 months).
I only had enough to do two box. I did my corn box and potato. I went back today there was only one species in the two boxes. That seem to help.

Spary soap
The next thing I read about was soap and water mixture. This work because the ants don't like the soap water and the water kills the aphids that are living on the plants. I used 1 bottle of water and 1 tbsp of soap.

I decided if could chase the ant away long enough to kill the aphids, then they wouldn't have a reason to come back. This morning I decide to give it a try! Here homing it works and I won't have ants in the garden.

What do you do with bugs? Are you an organic gardener? If so do you have any tips?
