Kids kronor- letter Jj - making J Jellyfish

Finished Project

This is an easy and fun project. I say this post on Pinterest from Crystal & Co. I decide to put our own spin on it. This project wasn't only art project, it also worked on their reading readiness skills and their math readiness skill.

Things needed for the project
Here is what you need to do the project for 3 kids....

  • 1.5 black paper
  • 1 orange paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Getting the project ready

Here what teacher does....

The big jellyfish

  • Cut out an J out of the black paper. I fold the paper half and cut 2 at a time.
  • Cut 3 half ovals out of the orange paper. You want to cut them the size of the top of the J
  • Cut out 12 curve legs. I made them 1/2 the size of the J.
The little jellyfish
  • Cut 6 little oval out of orange paper, 2 ovals per kid
  • Cut out 24 little legs, 8 per kid

Little men doing their projects

Here is what the kids will do to make the project.....

Big Jellyfish

  • Glue the 4 big legs on the top part of the J
  • Glue the big oval on top of the J
Little Jellyfish
  • Make 2 big glue circle
  • Put 4 little legs in each glue spot
  • Put a half circle over the legs.

How to make this project educational, while having fun. Ask questions, that's it ask questions about what they are doing.

  • What color is the J? Math Readiness Skill
  • What color is the jellyfish? Math Readiness Skill
  • What letter did you make? Reading Readiness Skill
  • What sound does J make? Reading Readiness Skill
  • How many jellyfish did you make? Math Readiness Skill

I love this way of teaching. The kids learn from their art project so much. They don't know I'm teaching they think we are having fun doing an art project. Plus they get their parents a cute project.

Kids kronor- letter Jj - lesson plans

This week is letter Jj. It will be the last letter until the new year. I have some fun things that we are going to do with the letter Jj.

I love that my library carries these books

We are going to 1st introduce the letter Jj with My "j" sound Box, by Jane Belk Mancure. We also sing the letter j song from LeapFrog: Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letter Set. I think these are fun ways to introduce the letter Jj.

We will also learn new songs this week that start with the letter Jj.

'

I also will be using a Utube video to help the kids learn about Jj form Sesame Street.

I love Pinterest! I find so many fun ideas on there. You can check out my Letter Jj board at Missy Life Of Working Mom. I found a fun science project thanks to Teach Preschool. I found ideas for letter J art projects jellyfish, toast with jam, and jellyfish in a bottle. The kids are going to have so much fun.

We will also count the date we are on in English and Spanish. We will sing our ABCs. We will have learning book time in the morning. During snack time we will have reading time. We also play a board game everyday too.

What are your little ones working on this week? Let me know I love new ideas!!

Gardening- 20 weeks before last frost (2016 garden) - inventorying seed

Organizing my seeds
This week I get to start to inventory the seeds I need for my Veggie Garden. I have 3 bins full of seeds. Seeds that I have gotten as gifts from hubby, seeds that I have gotten on sale, or seeds from the years before.
My seeds for this year
There are so many seeds to look though and make sure I have the right type and enough seeds to plan my garden.
My seed list
I am using my Garden Pro Plan app. It  tells me what type of seeds to plan, when to plant them and how many to plant.  I love that I can print it out. This will help not over or under plant. This will also help me stay organized.

My binder
I also just started a Garden Binder. This is how I'm going to organize my garden this year. I'm going to pull out my seeds and put them in here. This will be a huge help in planting the seeds that need to be planted on the right weeks. I'm so excited to see if this helps.

 My calendar for the greenhouse
I also pulled out my calendar to mark what I need to plant by dates. This will be nice to hang in my green house. This will help me stay on track on what has to get planted.
Organizing my seeds
Time to start to organize and inventory my seeds. What are you doing today?

Gardening - 19 Weeks Before Last Frost (2016 Garden) - Weekly Goals

Can you believe it is the 2nd week into 2016 Gardening year!?! I can't. This week is still a lot of dreaming about my garden for the year. I love that I just get to think about what I want and go for it.

Weekly Goals
  1. Plan gardens around - I use Garden Plan Pro. You can check out my review on this app on my post "Gardening tips - Gardening App". I have so many garden areas to plant and so many ideas in my head.
  2. Seed Inventory- I need to go throw my though my 3 seed boxes and pull out what I need for the house gardens. I will put them in the binder to.
  3.  Inventory seed starting supplies - Check my pots and make sure I have what I need to start planting my seeds.
  4.  Check over gardening tools - make sure I have all the tools I need. That they are cleaned and ready to go.
This week will be more putting my dreams on paper. I'm so excited. What are your goals for this week?

I do know most of you are on different weeks than me because your zones are different. You can always go back and see my weekly wrap ups.

Organized group seeds

I was so excited about this week to restarted my " Week-by-Week Vegetable Gardener's HandBook" by Ron Kujawski and Jennifer Kujawski. If you don't own this book, BUY it. It is such a huge help. I use it to help me set my weekly garden goals. It is also filled with amazingly awesome information.

Planning my Veggie Garden

Here were the gardening goals for last week.
  1. Plan garden - I use Garden Plan Pro. I love this app. You can check out my review on this app on my post "Gardening tips - Gardening App". - I did this goal this week! You can checkout   how I did it at Gardening - 20 Weeks Before Last Frost (2016 Garden) - Planning Veggie Garden. I am so excited to see my plans in my head to be on paper.
  2.  Inventory seed starting supplies - check my pots and make sure I have what I need to start. - I started this goal, but I didn't get far. I have so many pots to wash so I'm not marking this as done and adding it to next week's goals.
  3. Check over gardening tools - make sure I have all the tools I need. That they are cleaned and ready to go. - I didn't get to this goal.

I added two more goals to this week.
  1. Inventory Seeds - I did this in Gardening - 20 Weeks Before Last Frost (2016 Garden) - Inventroying seeds. - I decide it was important to look though the seeds I have and make sure that they were still good. I also thought it was a good idea to know what seeds I still needed. (They would make awesome stocking stockers for Hubby)
  2. 2016 Garden Binder - I decide on Wednesday, I would start this goal. I wanted in place that I could put the seeds I need and the plans for the garden. I also like that when I go into the binder and put the seeds I need to plant. I will tell you more about this idea later.
Insisde of the binder
This week is the start of 2016 Gardens. I love this week because I got to dream of my garden and the way I want it to look. This week was the easy week.

Gardening- 20 weeks before last frost (2016 garden) - planning veggiegarden

My Veggies Gardening Plan
This week my gardening goals was "Plan garden - I use Garden Plan Pro. I love this app. You can check out my review on this app on my post" This will be in my goals for then next few weeks. I have a huge veggie garden area and then gardens around the yard. This week I worked on my veggie garden. I have used my Garden Plan Pro app.

The seeds I need

This year I want to plan a lot of veggies. I want to be able to can them and save them though the winter. I want to save more organic non-GMO crops so we are eating healthier. I have set some small goals.

The plan so far
You will see that there are place that I have more then one crop they are Companion crops. Companion crops work together to help keep away the weeds, bad bugs and provide nutrients to each.

Print our of my seeds that I need
Now that I have a plan, it is time to start to look what seeds I have that are good and what seeds I have that are bad.
