You have to learn what you hard is prone for. I live in a area that isn't to wet nor is it to dry. You have to learn your area. If you live in a swampy area you don't want to plant plants that don't like water. If you live dry area, you don't want to plant pond plants.
By knowing what your area is prone and what the plant you plan on planting, you will have a better chance for it surviving and you getting a great crop!
